Hohenroda, Germany (11th September 2015) As part of ongoing product improvements, Snorkel will unveil upgrades to two of its most popular lifts at Platformers’ Days, as well as showcasing Snorkel Guard™, which is now a standard feature on boom lifts over 12.1m (40-feet).
Introducing Snorkel Guard™
Snorkel Guard™ is the new secondary guarding solution, developed by Snorkel’s in-house engineering team. Designed to minimize complexity, the simple mechanical system features a spring-mounted rail that sits above the upper control panel that cuts out machine operations when compressed, for example, in the case of the operator being involuntarily pushed against the controls.
The operator can override Snorkel Guard™ using a switch in the platform in the event that the system is activated in error. Additionally when Snorkel Guard™ is activated, the lift can be operated from the lower control panel.
All new-build Snorkel boom lifts with platform heights of 12.1m (40-feet) and above will be fitted with Snorkel Guard™ as standard from 1st September 2015. In addition, the Snorkel Guard™ system can be easily retrofitted to most Snorkel booms in the field. Now available, the retrofit kit can be ordered by German customers through Ahern Deutschland.
Upgrades to Existing Snorkel Models
In addition to the introduction of Snorkel Guard™, the company continues to implement product upgrades across its existing range, further improving the customer experience.
The popular Snorkel A38E electric articulated boom lift has been enhanced with hydraulic platform rotate which is now fitted as standard globally. The previous model had a fixed platform as standard, with manual platform rotate available as an option.
Hydraulic platform rotate improves both operator efficiency, thanks to being able to operate it in tandem with other functions, and also improves access, allowing the operator to work within a greater area without needing to reposition the lift.
The Snorkel compact rough terrain scissor lift, which includes the S2770RT, S3370RT and S3970RT models have also recently been upgraded. Shown for the first time at Platformers’ Days, the latest version incorporates a new control system that is consistent with many other Snorkel models, including the new line of electric slab scissor lifts.
The new control system improves serviceability, through its easy-to-read visual display and simple diagnostics. In addition, the operator will benefit from smoother operation of the lift, and rental/fleet customers will benefit from reduced parts inventory and easier troubleshooting.
Both of the upgraded models will be on display on the Ahern Deutschland stand at Platformers’ Days.
