Matthew Elvin, Xtreme Manufacturing and Snorkel CEO, addressed the participants of the ALH 2021 Virtual Conference on Tuesday, September 14 with a presentation on the topic of equipment electrification.
Titled “The electrification of telehandlers and high reach equipment with a focus on lithium power”, Matthew discussed the current and future drivers for equipment electrification, as well as taking a look at electric technology developments in the automotive industry and the commitments made by carmakers. He concluded by explaining the reasons behind Snorkel’s decision to utilize lithium-ion battery technology in place of diesel engines, and how the company has overcome some of the challenges to adoption.
Access, Lifts and Handlers magazine who organize the annual ALH Conference had to make a switch to a virtual conference at short notice as Covid cases in the planned host city of Chicago increased in recent weeks, meaning they were unable to hold an in-person event.
