Art Moore (1924-2019)
Founder
Snorkel was founded in 1959 to sell aerial firefighting equipment produced by Pitman Manufacturing Co., a company I had started with my friend, Ray Pitman. Little did I know that our designs would help shape entire industries.
Our history has changed quite a bit over the years, but one thing is still the same. It has always been the Snorkel philosophy to listen to our customers and to “keep it simple.” Our machines are built for the customer and also by the customer with designs that are reliable, robust and adaptable to industry needs.
Passion and drive may have formed the foundation of Snorkel, but it was the work of dedicated employees and the input of our customers who helped grow the company into what it is today. Not the least of whom to thank is long-time customer, and now owner of Snorkel, Don Ahern, who I am proud to have carry on our legacy.

I had long admired Art Moore, the founder of Snorkel and a true pioneer in the field of aerial work platforms. Art has served as a tremendous mentor over the years, and I am humbled to be the next leader of Snorkel.
Beginning my career as an equipment rental company and dealer 40 years ago is what established my roots in the high reach equipment market. My own experience has helped me gain a thorough understanding of the industry. This is something I’d like to pass down to Snorkel customers. As a manufacturer, the customer perspective serves as my foundation to produce and deliver quality products.
For me, taking over the helm for Snorkel comes full circle. Our mission is to combine Snorkel’s rich history of achieving industry firsts with modern engineering to build a global brand of best-in-class aerial work platforms. I’m personally committed to continuing to deliver reliable products, excellent service and parts availability to Snorkel customers.
